About Poople

How it started

Poople began nearly twenty years ago, when my brothers and I were very young, and very unable to sit still for a long car trip. My dad, in a moment of either genius or desperation, created a game that combined the engaging fun of a simple word game with a topic guaranteed to make the kids giggle. Originally, it was simply called "the to-poop game". We played it for hours, and the adults were just as engaged with it as the kids! Years later, after Wordle had hit the internet and I had learned to code, we revived the idea of the to-poop game as an online word game for everyone to enjoy!

Okay, but why poop?

It's funny!

Of course, there's a bit more to it than that. A four or five-letter word is good for word ladder games like this, since there are a lot of different options for starting words to pick. "Poop" turns out to be an especially interesting pick, since it has a unique consonant-vowel-vowel-consonant structure. That makes it surprisingly tricky to get to "poop" from words that look similar at a glance!

About me

I'm Elias Furst, a software developer by trade and hobby. I've got a portfolio website at elia.sfur.st, if you're interested in seeing more of my work. Poople was a fun project I made as a way to improve my skills and share a bit of my family's silliness with the world. I'm overjoyed to see so many people enjoying it every day!
